I want use v-portal while in bogota and they have dsl with TELMEX, the modem is rented from TELMEX too, so any idea how to do it?
in my last trip I couldn't instaled with ETB dsl ( they had etb at this time) it kept whowing error 004 and 003

It's HE Mundy but thanks for the props. I have used vonage with Telmex but not in Colombia. I've used it in Mexico. It's the same company but I'm sure things vary in different countries. I never set up a network with Telmex as the provider. I took my adapter to a location that already had a network in place. So I can't say for certain if it was using DHCP or PPOE. I can say that it worked fine on many different occasions. I would guess that they are using DHCP since they are the biggest communications company in Latin America. I would suggest that you take your adapter and try to connect it to the Telmex modem and see what happens. Perhaps the old company was using PPOE and you didn't set up the Vonage router to work with that connection. ok thank, i will try next week but I worry because they have a modem that has a phone line hooked to it, and one ethernet conection, so I don't know it work, any case I will post after i return to the states. |

my wife call to telmex and they said that the conection is IP DINAMIC it is the same as dhcp?
ofcourse they didn't helped I don't know if I can use a regular modem and conect the v-portal.

that sounds like you will want to leave your vportal in its default mode and it should work, in theory that is. |
