Hello,I have a rtp300 router and when i run a line from my cable modem to the router an from the router to my computer my phone will work but i dont get a internet connection.any one know how to fix this thing.thanks |

Hi,
This is a common issue with aged Vonage devices. The first thing you need to do is (I am assuming it used to work before) when you have your PC behind your RTP300 if you are using Windows, open up command prompt, type in ping yahoo.com since you are not able to connect to the internet ping test should fail. try ping 206.190.60.37 if you are able to ping this time you need to set the dns servers on your PC. https://www.opendns.com/smb/start/device/windows-xp If it does not ping, you need to verify the following.
Does your PC obtain an IP address when connected to your Vonage device? If it does what is it? What is the default gateway and subnet mask? If it says something like limited or no connectivity you can set a static ip on your pc and try the ping test again. Keep me posted I would like to help. |

Hello,Thanks so much for your reply,I got this router new an yes it has worked up till about 2 weeks ago.I can hook every thing up seperate an all work fine,but i can only have internet or phone.When i hook it up like it has for the last year or 2 the pc tells me no connectivity an i have also seen it say limited also.I will try some of the things you have listed.thanks |
