The Residential Basic 500 has been raised to $17.99/mo. Did anyone receive a notice? |

i just upgraded from the 500 basic plan to 24.99 unlimited so i was unaware...but looks like its a good thing since they are supposedly raising the basic rate..haha. prolly trying to push people into the 24.99 unlimited...its a hell of a deal anyways. 24.99 UNLIMITED incoming/outgoing with all the national long distance you want for free...hell the international rates are a steal as well. |

I have not and I have 1 line on the 14.99 / 500 min plan.
My bill comes in a week or so, I'll post an update once I get it. |

Wow, that will NOT be good news. It makes me very glad that I asked to be upgraded for free, then. |

I assume this would apply to new customers but who knows. I'm on the $14.99/unlimited promotional plan so I assume that I won't see an increase since it's a promotion. I'm interested to see if existing customer's bills do suddenly increase. Please let us know when you can butterman. That could backfire if they start increasing the monthly charges for existing customers on the 500min plan. I've read numerous posts here and other places in which people say they only use the 500min plan because they don't really use the phone that much. That $3 increase in price will probably be closer to $4 on a statement by the time slightly higher taxes and fees are included. Could be enough to push some people away. |

Will do. My billing cycle ends next week, I'll post an update. I have a feeling that you are right though tglea and this will only hit new customers. |

Looks like it is going up.
I logged in to my account today and saw this service announcement:
Effective December 1, 2008, the monthly price of our Basic Residential 500 Minutes Plan increased from $14.99 to $17.99 for all new customers who sign up with Vonage. Beginning in December existing customers on the plan will be notified a minimum of 60 days prior to their plan price increasing. Depending on when you signed up for the plan, your notification and price increase date will vary. |

Wow, Merry Christmas, we're raising your bill, thank you for choosing AT&T Vonage!
If I was still on this plan, I'd be throwing a fit, especially if I was still within the first two years of service -- I don't think it's fair to raise the rates on this service, and a customer with less than two years would be dinged $40 for wanting to cancel because of a rate hike.
I wonder how many two month credits Vonage will be handing out over this? |

I'll let you know. I would think I would get something since I've been a customer for just about 4 years now and have 2 lines. |

From what I read in the announcement, when your rate goes up depends on when you signed up for service, so chance are that it will go up after you have had your service for a certain length of time. |
